help portrait 2014

Thank God life is not a one mistake game.  The teens who reside at the Shannon West Homeless Youth Center have been given an opportunity to get their young lives back on track after some misfortunes along their path of transitioning into young adults.

The center located in downtown Las Vegas, provides housing and emergency shelter for homeless and at risk male and female youths. Their programs motivates residents toward reaching self-sufficiency by providing the training and skills to further their education, employment, social and life skills.

Earlier this month, I took part in the 2014 Help Portrait Las Vegas, the project is a world-wide movement of photographers, make-up artists, disc jockeys who volunteer their time, equipment and expertise along with local businesses who contributed their service to give back by taking portraits of the young adults and making them feel very special prior to the holiday season.  Here’s a collection of images of the teens and volunteers who step in front of my camera on a beautiful crisp December day.  It was a fun time.

Blessings and happy holidays to the teens at Shannon West.  In closing remember to follow your dreams and use your minor set backs as a learning tool for a brighter future~lorenz
